Position SummaryThe Senior Quality Manager will either supervise the Quality activities of one or more plants or will provide backup to a series of plants within a region. The role ensures that products, materials, and services supplied to customers meet contractual requirements and that a quality program is implemented and maintained, allowing a consistent quality standard.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)- Implement and maintain the Bodycote Quality System (BQS) to meet customer requirements and corporate standards.
- Direct and supervise the work of the quality department employees.
- Provide procedures, as required, to support quality department objectives.
- Provide training to individuals whose work affects quality issues in the requirements of the BQS.
- Review customer proposals, requests for quotations and/or purchase orders, including changes, to determine quality requirements and ensure their input into internal planning.
- Establish and maintain relations with customer representatives in quality‑related activities, including source inspection, audits and process surveys.
- Interface with other departments to provide assistance, resolve problems, and monitor work affecting quality.
- Perform activities defined in the BQS responsibility matrix.
- Monitor and audit responsibilities defined in the responsibility matrix.
- Ensure conformance to quality program requirements through external/internal audits, corrective action programmes, and qualify associates through testing and training.
- Maintain supplier qualification to ensure they meet quality standards and obtain process approvals.
- Act as a member of the management team and perform other duties as dictated by the position or required by the General Manager.
- Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping.
- Work consistently with the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Demonstrate the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co‑workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- May have access to compensation information of other employees or applicants; cannot disclose the pay of others to third parties.
- Position must satisfy ITAR compliance; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
- Engineering degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a related manufacturing field required.
- Experience and practical knowledge of Quality Management Systems; preferred to have direct experience in heat treatment of commercial or aerospace alloys.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Quality Control and 2 years direct supervisory experience.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English to interface with management and all levels, both in‑house and at customer sites.
- Capability to make written recommendations for improving Quality Assurance Systems and Procedures.
- Thorough familiarity with aerospace quality systems.
- Capability to write general procedures for heat treatment of specific alloys in accordance with customer needs.
- Familiarity with commercial (AMS, ASTM), aircraft and aerospace specifications, ISO, AS, QS and TS quality systems.
- Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action investigations and Corrective Action Management.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and purchase orders.
- Ability to plan and execute projects and activities to specific timelines.
- Knowledge and hands‑on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases required.
- NUDcap experience required; NUDcap Heat Treat Experience preferred.
