REGISTERED NURSE (Ambulatory Care, Oncology Answer Line)

Responsibilities- Deliver telehealth nursing care that is culturally and age‑specific to all oncology patients in Michigan Medicine.
- Assist in determining urgency of clinic or infusion visits.
- Assess patient needs and address medical issues related to health concerns.
- Adapt communication style to meet diverse personal, professional, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Utilize electronic protocol database to assess, educate and document health information accurately and expediently.
- Support program needs, including mentoring/orienting new staff, adapting to shifts in technology, workflow and organizational priorities.
- Meet or exceed established quality and productivity standards.
- Collaborate with providers when necessary to provide advice or determine disposition for patients.
- Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel and collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in meetings in person or remotely with active engagement.
- Apply critical thinking, nursing process, problem‑solving, priority setting, and multitasking skills.
- Demonstrate customer service and interpersonal communication, building respectful relationships across units.
- Show accountability, dependability, punctuality and adaptability to changing clinic needs and patient situations.
- Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
- Manage complex clinical issues using assessment skills, protocols and evidence‑based interventions.
- Show willingness to adapt to different populations (pediatrics, adult medicine) as patient demands evolve.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of five (5) years of oncology RN experience within the last six (6) years.
- Ambulatory care experience with telephone triage/symptom management within the last five (5) years.
- BSN degree.
- OCN certification.
- Ambulatory care float RN experience.
- Hourly range for Registered Nurses: $41.78–$64.81 per hour.
- Evening shift differential: $3.00 per hour.
- Night shift differential: $4.00 per hour.
- Day shift weekend differential: $2.90 per hour.
- Evening shift weekend differential: $5.90 per hour.
- Night shift weekend differential: $6.90 per hour.
- Charge nurse differential: $1.00 per hour.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the Michigan Nurses Association and U‑M Professional Nurse Council.
