Job Description Summary
Operates equipment to apply adhesive to castings and rubber to wedges consisting of numerous sizes in a production environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
- Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
- Uses proper lifting and ergonomic techniques.
- Proactively promotes The McWane Way Principles.
- Reads work orders or receives oral instructions to determine work assignments, material or equipment needs.
- Follows detailed job specific instructions to make sure castings are produced in the most efficient manner and to meet customer specifications.
- Conducts daily inspection of equipment.
- Operates three-stage washer, dry off oven, conveyor system, and dip tank for adhesive.
- Loads/unloads 2-16 wedges on the conveyor system utilizing standard and specialized material handling equipment.
- Operates industrial forklifts along with manual pallet lifting devices.
- Maintains operating levels of cleaners for the wash system and levels for the adhesion dip tanks.
- Loads/unloads castings in pre-heat ovens utilizing special lifting devices for 10 and above.
- Loads/unloads core pins into the core pin oven.
- Loads pre-heated castings on patterns/molds and properly prepares equipment for the injection cycle including setting core pins in the mold correctly.
- Loads strips of rubber into injection molding machine.
- Operates controls of equipment to maintain established standards.
- Performs quality checks to include but not limited to the following:
Adhesion tests, temperature checks, durometer checks, dimension checks. - Utilizes hand tools to perform normal operations of operating equipment.
- Utilizes hand trimming tools to remove excess rubber from the castings and discard.
- Loads parts into shipping containers in established quantities and sizes.
- Maintains inventory control by properly scanning inventory, marking, and/or labeling.
- Cleans patterns, tooling, molds, fixtures, tanks, and equipment to ensure items are maintained properly.
- Maintains cleanliness of the production area.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma/GED preferred.
Experience in injection molding preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend casting prints, drawings, and formulation requirements. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one on one, small groups, and other employees.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
