Provide targeted instructional support and interventions to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.

Education/Certification/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED and meet one of the following requirements:
  • Completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Possess an associate (or higher) degree
  • OR Passing score on the paraprofessional assessment – Must qualify for the required paraprofessional certificate (Educational Aide I) and meet the following requirements for certification:
  • Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent – Experience may be work in church related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day‑care centers, or similar experience.

• Ability to work with students with disabilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents orally and in writing.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to use basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
• Bilingual Preferred

• Provide targeted instruction and classroom support to students under the direction of a teacher, and work with individual students or small groups.
• Works closely with campus teachers to address the needs of students.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

• Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.

• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.
Posture:
Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping.
Motion:
Moderate walking.
Lifting:
Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
Environment:
Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise.
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
