The Research Technician (Evans Lab) will perform experiments as part of a pre‑clinical neuroscience team focused on understanding how light modulates the brain. In addition, this individual will gather and analyze experimental data, help organize inventory, and help to train and supervise student volunteers.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesSkills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, Neuroscience, or Biomedical Science.
- A minimum of one year of experience working in a similar position.
- Ability to work well in a team in a professional setting, demonstrate initiative, excellent time management skills, technical proficiency, and effective communication.
- Ability to conduct preclinical research with rodents.
Skills and Abilities
- Prior knowledge of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, and/or small‑animal husbandry.
- Hands‑on experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or related discipline.
- Research experience includes working with transgenic animal models, performing genotyping, PCR, Western blot, and cell culture.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to perform occasional evening or weekend work due to the nature of our research program.
- A commitment of 1‑2 years is preferred.
