The Market Produce Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the produce department, ensuring the highest standards of freshness, presentation, and compliance with food and safety standards. This role supports the Market Retail Supervisor by leading the team, managing inventory, and creating a visually stunning and inviting produce section that reflects the store’s upscale brand.
Specific Responsibilities Leadership and Team Support- Supervise and support produce associates and delegate tasks such as stocking, rotation, cleaning, and merchandising
- Train team members on product handling, customer service, and food safety standards
- Foster a positive, efficient, and quality-focused work environment
- Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers regarding produce selection, storage, and preparation
- Handle special requests and resolve customer concerns professionally
- Educate customers on organic, local, and seasonal offerings
- Ensure all produce is fresh, properly rotated, and attractively displayed
- Monitor product rotation and manage shrink to minimize waste
- Maintain high visual merchandising standards, including signage and seasonal displays
- Enforce strict food safety and sanitation protocols, including temperature logs and cleaning schedules
- Ensure compliance with local health regulations and store policies
- Maintain proper storage and handling of all produce items
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to the Food Operations
- Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying product quality and accuracy
- Track usage and suggest adjustments to ordering based on sales trends and seasonal availability
- Coordinate with deli, grocery, and prepared foods teams for cross-promotions and events
- Support store-wide initiatives and seasonal resets
- Act as MOD on an as-needed rotational basis and follow responsibilities and expectations as set in the MOD SOP
- Will complete all duties and requests as assigned by management
This is a full-time position working both weekdays and weekends. Shifts vary between 5:30 am and 9:00 pm.
Skills & Requirements- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Must be at least 18 years old
- 2+ years of experience in produce or grocery, with 1+ year of leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of fruits, vegetables, and organic/local sourcing
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lead by example and maintain high standards
- Ability to use POS systems and comfortable with cash handling
- Ability to operate slicers, scales, and other equipment safely
- Serv Safe certification or equivalent required, or obtained upon hire
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in cold environments and stand for extended periods of time
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

CompensationHourly range: $18.30–$22.90.
