Primary Function: Under the direction of the Director of Religious Education & Youth Ministry and/or Pastor, is responsible for assisting with the coordination of the Religious Education program at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. The coordinator shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.”

- Perform as support of the parish’s spiritual and pastoral mission.
- Abide by Catholic principles in the employee’s professional and private life and govern professional life in accordance with Catholic morals and principles.
- Assist in articulating a vision within the community, including needs assessment, setting priorities, goals, and action plans.
- Coordinate curriculum changes, assess needs, and incorporate prayer, service, and outreach at all levels.
- Assist in administering Religious Education programs: program coordination, liaison between catechists and parents, maintain sacrament records, attend weekly staff meetings, and carry out special projects as directed.
- Proficiency using Flocknote to stay in touch with parents and Catechists.
- Assist in recruiting and forming Catechists, including catechist education and training, adhering to Diocesan guidelines.
- Assist with oversight of religious education staff.
- Ensure adherence to personnel policy guidelines and other parish/diocesan guidelines.
- Prepare reports as necessary.
- Assist with ensuring adherence to the Diocese of Tucson Safe Environment requirements.
- Assist in drafting and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for youth activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal education and office environment.

- Working knowledge of and strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; in full communion with the Church.

- Self-starter; well organized; ability to multitask and work with urgency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality; weekend and overtime work may be required.
- Proficiency in computer technology, including Flock notes, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
- Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance.
- Ability to successfully pass a background and criminal history check.
- Associate degree in business, education or public administration or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a Catholic religious education environment as an educator or practicing catechist.
- Level 1 catechetical certification or equivalent education.
- Level 2 catechetical certification or equivalent education preferred.
