Overview

This position is designated as a Safety-Sensitive position. FLSA:
Non-exempt.

Responsibilities
  • Manage work priority, develop job plans, define parts and material, define crafts and skills, and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective and efficient work control plan.
  • Review work requests with Manager for accuracy and clarity: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead times, correct equipment identification, proper authorization, and discuss details with the originator of the work order.
  • Obtain and organize all information required for the crafts to perform the approved work: drawings, vendor manuals, supplemental instructional materials, special procedures, and other file material as appropriate. Prepare any additional sketches, drawings, diagrams, notes, or instructional material to clarify the work to be performed.
  • Provide equipment-related expertise and technical guidance on improving preventive maintenance activities and equipment improvements.
  • Identify and manage any vendor-delivered service for the work order (e.g., contract vibration service or machining house).
  • Verify that all material, information, tools and labor are available prior to scheduling.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Software and related tools to manage work controls, backlogs, and metrics.
  • Manage the status of work control and backlog from work order submission to completion (e.g., waiting for planning, waiting for parts, ready to schedule, scheduled).
  • Provide job estimates based on craft or skills required, sequence, and quantity as requested.
  • Provide a total cost estimate for the work: labor, material, and outside services.
  • Follow up with Maintenance Team Leads and Operation Team Leads to ensure completed work packets (PM sheets) are turned in with improvement comments in a timely fashion.
  • Update job packets (PM sheets) as required for the files.
  • Create reports and track metrics identified by Manager.
  • Monitor service visits and inspections with Contractor services (HVAC, waste disposal, mechanical needs, air/water/electrical, etc.).

Required Skills
  • High School graduation plus 5 years of maintenance experience or experience purchasing and scheduling maintenance in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirements and skills needed to complete a job. Demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills and the ability to be approachable and tactful.
  • Good math and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to write and provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • Ability to read standard blueprints, machine and process drawings; ability to sketch or redline existing drawings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the maintenance process and proper use of the work order system, planning and scheduling, and storeroom processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and drive them to completion.
  • Previous experience scheduling multi-shift / multi-craft tasks is preferred.
