All Bus Drivers are to ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned routes. Operate school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated locations.

Not a comprehensive list. Incumbent may be required to perform additional duties.

• Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and keep supervisory informed of any issues
• Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Compile required reports
• Perform minor maintenance duties and keep assigned bus clean and fueled

• Take student attendance on the school bus
• Ensure students board and leave the bus, and cross the street in a safe and orderly manner
• Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations
• Maintain discipline; communicate with teachers and parents on a regular basis regarding student behavior while on bus

• Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses
• Maintain all emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crowbar, and reflector
• Correct unsafe conditions in the work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisory of any conditions that are not correctable immediately
• Install snow chains during inclement weather

• Properly communicate with transportation office
• Operate bus during irregular hours as needed
• Keep safety certification current through training programs required
• Be honest, trustworthy and respectful
• Demonstrate sound work ethics and cultural sensitivity
• Be flexible

• Must possess a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License and outstanding driving record
• Must possess a valid Texas School Bus Driving Safety certificate
• Must have an up to date medical physical
