Stormwater Engineer

Role Description

Arcadis is looking for a Stormwater Engineer to join our Resilience Water Team in Arlington or Richmond, Virginia. Collaborating with experienced Water Professionals, you will support and drive the development of stormwater projects, interact and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities.

• Evaluate, plan, design, permit and support management of projects for stormwater BMPs and conveyance (pipelines, BMPs, and pumping facilities).
• Support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to RFIs, and permit closeouts.
• Perform, set up, assemble data, and coordinate resources to complete hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and calculations for stormwater linear design, watershed models, natural systems and dams.
• Support sustainability and resilience projects with stormwater modeling, planning and design.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and other audio‑visual materials, and participate in client meetings.
• Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality, health, and safety standards, and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.
• Work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to collaborate across the country.
• Learn/use digital tools to enhance customer experience, team and client collaboration, and project delivery including SharePoint, BIM, Power BI, and Augmented Reality.
• Travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities.

• 7 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related field.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License.

• Experience in design, consulting engineering, or municipal environment.
• Demonstrated project leadership, managing overall delivery expectations and mentoring team members.
• Construction observation and client management experience, including proposal preparation and building strong client relationships.
• Proficiency or formal training in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.

Salary range: $105,494 - $158,242/year.
