Supplier Quality Specialist - Hiroshima, Japan

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Supplier Quality team is seeking a Supplier Quality Specialist
. This position is to lead audits and assessments of complex supplier’s systems, processes and products. Documents and reports audit and assessment results, and provides education and coaching on quality systems, regulatory compliance issues and company initiatives. Develops training materials and other resources to support improvements in supplier performance and productivity. This position is based in Hiroshima.
- Primary work location is at a supplier’s facility.
- Under general supervision, plan, organize and lead audits and assessments of supplier’s systems, processes and products.
- Document and report key supplier metrics, audit and assessment results to leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide supplier education and coaching on quality systems, regulatory compliance issues and company initiatives.
- Evaluate and develop improvement plans for key suppliers.
- Resolve routine issues and concerns.
- Analyze supplier’s key performance indices and identify areas of improvement.
- Establish inspection plan for supplier’s products and perform inspection.
- Establish surveillance plan for supplier’s quality management and production system and perform surveillance.
- Performs follow‑up on audit and assessment findings.
- Inspects or verifies products for compliance with requirements and documents findings.
- Ensure supplier notifications of quality escapes are processed.
- Assist with assessments of supplier capability and capacity to perform current or potential future work.
- Provide technical expertise on specific manufacturing processes to suppliers.
- Investigate and resolve routine issues to ensure supplier compliance to established requirements.
- Monitor quality, delivery, work in process, systemic issues and program impacts to determine needed corrective actions and improvements to supplier performance.
- Interpret routine requirements and resolve supplier issues and concerns.
- Lead preventive activities as well as corrective action activities with suppliers to address the root cause of quality escapes.
- Drive the implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with suppliers to shift quality approach from detection to prevention.
- 3 or more years of related work experience.
- Business level English (written and spoken).
- Bachelor’s in Engineering Degree preferred.
- Quality Systems/Standards:
Knowledge of BQMS, ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9145. - Business level Japanese (written and spoken).
- Education or experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g., Bachelor) and 3 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The selected candidate will be required to work on‑site (with some flexibility) at supplier’s location in Hiroshima.
