At Regions, the Data Center Technician is responsible for ensuring that the data center infrastructure is maintained, including successful deployment of any new data center infrastructure, on-going administration, monitoring, and support of data center infrastructure, equipment, and support systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Takes responsibility for lifecycle management of hardware and related equipment, from installation to decommission/disposal
- Assists in the development of detailed plans as well as installs, moves, and/or decommissions hardware and cables in data center
- Administers processes related to the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system
- Records, updates, and documents tickets in ticketing system(s)
- Maintains hardware as related to ticket queues (e.g. incident, request, change)
- Assists with hardware troubleshooting (e.g. part replacements, configuration updates, upgrades, etc.)
- Maintains data center hardware inventory
- Provides and monitors physical access to data centers for required associates and third parties (e.g. vendors)
- Provides shipping and receiving support
- Assists vendors at data center sites, including handling escalations, escorts, and/or troubleshooting assistance
- Assists in maintaining data center best practices and procedures
- Provides site services audit compliance support
- Ensures compliance with risk management programs, rules and regulations, and cybersecurity practices; identifies opportunities for and supports process improvements; applies disciplined change management practices
- May act as a coach and mentor to junior technicians
This position requires the tracking of time and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) years of physical data center experience supporting data center equipment and infrastructure
- A valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical demands such as climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to work in a climate-controlled and noisy environment for long periods of time
- Willing and able to travel
Preferences
- Applicable certifications (e.g. A+, CompTIA Server Plus, CompTIA Network, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP))
- Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system administration
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure, information technology equipment, and electrical and mechanical systems
- Some college experience and/or technical training
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and industry guidance

- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of computer server, storage and networking hardware with the ability to collaborate with network, server, and security engineers/experts
- Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation
- Understanding of computer operating systems (e.g. Linux, Mac OS, Windows), databases, and virtualization technologies
- Understanding of data center power, space, cooling, and cabling best practices
- Understanding of technology ticketing systems (e.g. incident, request, change tickets)
Location:
This position is intended to be onsite 5 days a week at a Data Center in Ashburn Virginia.
Shift:
Second Shift preferred: 2pm-11pm, but schedule may vary.
Regions will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position at this time. Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Compensation Details
Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

$85,234.50 USD
