Overall Purpose
The teacher supports the instructional process by supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans, collaborating with colleagues, and addressing inquiries from parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress.

Essential Functions- Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans.
- Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
- Advises parents or legal guardians of student progress, communicating expectations, achievements, methods for improvement, and reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
- Assesses student progress toward objectives, expectations, and goals, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents or guardians, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
- Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject‑specific assignments to address individual student requirements.
- Directs others working with and/or assisting the teacher (assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, or student workers) to provide an effective classroom program and address student needs.
- Instructs students to improve their academic success through a defined course of study.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (classroom, field trips, etc.) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in meetings (Professional Learning Communities, etc.) to convey and gather information required to perform functions.
- Prepares written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, meeting minutes, etc.) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Reports suspected child or substance abuse to the assigned site administrator to maintain student safety and comply with regulations.
- Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, or industry organizations to resolve issues and provide information.
- Responds to emergency situations (behavior problems, health emergencies, security threats, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Valid teaching certificate in the assigned teaching field.
Physical RequirementsOccasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. Generally, 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
Continuing Education/TrainingMaintain all licenses and certifications.
