Position SummaryResearch Tech position in a moderate sized, highly dynamic, and productive research lab working in immunity to human parasitic infections using primarily mouse models. Specific duties will vary with the project but may include maintenance of cultured cells and parasites, performance of in vitro and in vivo tests for the effectiveness of antiparasite drugs, plasmid construction, CRISPR screening, immunological assays (Luminex, Flow Cytometry), tissue preparation, and microscopy.
Many opportunities will exist for developing a diverse skill set and for gaining experience and independence in designing and executing research experiments and protocols. A successful candidate will be able to prioritize work duties and manage the details of experiment execution.
A successful applicant will be willing to work with mice and human pathogens.
- Prior research experience beneficial but not required.

- Interest in or experience with various tissue preparation and microscopy methods would be valuable.
Responsible for recombinant protein expression and purification, data analysis, and execution of serological assays primarily using the Luminex platform (50%).
Experimental Design Planning: contributed to study design, protocol development, and optimization of experimental workflows. Miscellaneous Experiments / Laboratory Work (40%).
- PBMC Extraction – Isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from whole blood using density gradient centrifugation.
- Cryo-sectioning & Tissue Freezing – Preparation of tissue samples for histological analysis, including embedding, freezing, and sectioning.
- Plasmid Design & Cloning – Design and construction of plasmid vectors, including molecular cloning and validation.
Designing and executing research experiments and protocols under guidance of the PI (10%).
- Designing and executing research experiments and protocols under guidance of the PI (PI will assist the Research Tech III in designing the experiment).
- The individual in this position may have opportunities for developing a diverse skillset and for gaining experience in designing and executing research experiments and protocols.
- The candidate will work with other Research Techs and Research Professionals to perform research and will be able to collaborate on projects.
Sit or stand at a laboratory workbench for extended periods of time.
