The Markewitz Forest Soils and Water laboratory is looking for two undergraduate students to assist with fieldwork in support of an upcoming scientific research effort. The work will involve travel to South and Central Georgia for the collection of plant material and soils over the course of one week of fieldwork.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In PositionCoursework in forestry, soil science, agronomy, ecology, or related fields is preferred. Experience collecting data or samples for research or labs in forest environments is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or CompetenciesAbility to work outdoors in cold and potentially inclement weather. Willingness to travel overnight for three-to-four days as a part of a team conducting fieldwork.
Physical DemandsExposure to cold and rain. Uneven terrain and moving through forested environments. Ability to bend and stand repeatedly, conduct moderate physical labor in the field, and ability to carry 30lbs for ½ mile.
