Job Summary

Lowe Engineers is seeking a dependable and experienced Construction Crew Chief to lead field crews on a variety of construction, infrastructure, and municipal projects. This position is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, coordinating crew activities, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining project quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, hands‑on construction experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, contractors, and clients.

Responsibilities include supervising field personnel, operating and maintaining equipment, reading plans and specifications, tracking project progress, and ensuring work is completed efficiently and accurately. Candidates should possess knowledge of construction practices, site safety procedures, and field documentation. Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills are essential. Experience with roadway, utility, site development, or municipal construction projects is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sets up and maintains permanent control throughout the entire line and grade portion of the project.
  • Validates accurate dimensions by reviewing the architectural and structural drawings prior to execution.
  • Can identify any discrepancies in drawings prior to execution.
  • Engages the project lead on the line and grade portion of the project to ensure proper scheduling and sequencing.
  • Proficient with the use of advanced instruments and total station to perform an accurate layout.
  • Can complete a layout in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Delivers layout information to the project team to ensure proper execution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in field engineering, surveying, and layout for a large‑scale self‑perform general contractor or concrete contractor.
  • Self‑perform concrete experience required.
  • Experience working on a variety of project types with an emphasis on commercial and industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction principles and practices with experience on projects exceeding $1 million.
  • Experienced in using advanced surveying instruments and capable of performing layouts with a Total Station.
Environmental Factors

Works indoors and out‑of‑doors year round. Works around traffic and automobile fumes. Incumbents may be subjected to dusts, fumes, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises. Physical

Demands

Work is performed both outdoors and in an office environment. Outdoor work may be conducted at landfills, construction sites, and in traffic. To perform the essential functions of the job, incumbents may be required to perform moderately strenuous tasks, such as lifting and carrying instruments weighing up to 75 pounds over rough terrain. Incumbents may also be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, and pound stakes with hand tools.
