Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting, Senior Accountant
We are seeking a VP of Accounting to join a growing insurance company located in the Atlanta area. The VP of Accounting is responsible for leading core accounting activities, including planning, coordination, and reporting of financial operations for regulated entities.
Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including month-end close, general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, and financial reporting.
- Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and compliant with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate, prepare, and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze financial results, including profitability, trends, and variances to budget.
- Design, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and financial systems.
- Implement new accounting policies and processes to support business objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial reviews and audits.
- Oversee treasury-related activities, including cash management, payment processing, and banking relationships.
- Manage tax-related filings and compliance requirements across applicable jurisdictions.
- Lead or support accounting-related projects, including process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Previous experience in insurance accounting roles, Life & Health (blue book) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and statutory reporting frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports, statements, and projections.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
