Job Summary
The Systems Engineer – Cabin & Visibility is responsible for defining, managing, and validating system requirements for vehicle cabin components that impact driver visibility, ergonomics, safety, and occupant experience.
This role works cross-functionally with design, electrical, software, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure robust system architecture and successful vehicle integration.
Key Responsibilities- Capture, analyze, and decompose customer and regulatory requirements into system-level specifications.
- Develop and maintain requirements using industry-standard tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, Jama).
- Define system architecture and allocate requirements to hardware, software, and mechanical domains.
- Lead cross-functional reviews to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with vehicle programs.
- Manage requirement traceability from concept through production.
- Support system integration activities and resolve interface issues across cabin subsystems.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with OEM performance and quality standards.
- Participate in verification and validation planning, including DVP&R development.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulatory standards (FMVSS, NHTSA, ISO where applicable).
- Drive issue resolution using structured problem-solving methods.
- Driver visibility systems (mirrors, camera systems, defog/defrost, lighting interfaces)
- Interior components impacting sightlines and ergonomics
- Human-Machine Interface (HMI) elements within the cabin
- Cabin monitoring or driver awareness technologies
- Structural interfaces affecting field of view
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Typically 3–8+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering or requirements engineering.
- Experience working within an OEM or Tier-1 supplier environment.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering processes (V-model).
- Experience with requirement management tools (DOORS, Polarion, Jama, etc.).
- Familiarity with vehicle electrical architectures and communication protocols (CAN/LIN preferred).
- Knowledge of automotive development lifecycle from concept to launch.
- Master’s degree in Systems or Automotive Engineering.
- Experience with visibility, interior, cockpit, or human factors engineering.
- Knowledge of functional safety concepts or regulatory compliance.
- Exposure to model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
- Understanding of validation methods and test planning.
