Position: School Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)

Location: Stapleton, GA

Employment Type: Full-Time

Duration: ASAP - May 23, 2025

Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week (no lunch with child)

Caseload: 1:1 assignment with a middle school student

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated School Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) in Stapleton, GA. This full-time position involves providing one-on-one interpreting services for a middle school student who is deaf or hard of hearing. The SLI will facilitate effective communication between the student and their peers, teachers, and other school staff, ensuring that the student has full access to educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation for the student throughout the school day.
  • Assist the student in accessing and participating in classroom activities, including instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities.
  • Attend IEP meetings to support the development of the student's Individualized Education Program and provide input on communication needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and the student's family to ensure the student's needs are met.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the student's personal and educational information.
  • Support the students overall academic and social success by fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Active GA PSC SLI licensure with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher.
  • Proven experience as a sign language interpreter in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.
