Responsibilities- Work according to operator instruction sheets and/or verbal instructions to effectively perform operations.
- Check products and/or component dimensions with various indicators and gauges as described in procedures or work instructions.
- Determine quality status (good or NG product).
- Assist in tool changes and in changing simple parts and fixtures.
- Visually and manually check for defects in product or workmanship.
- Input data daily to maintain charts and reports supporting manufacturing, engineering, quality, material control, and sales.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area using the 5S policy in all processes, procedures, and daily activities.
- Comply with work instructions and procedures to ensure products conform to TS16949, ISO
14000, and customer quality standards. - Be aware of all hazardous conditions within a machining environment.
- Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines per the Astemo safety policy.
- Suggest and implement continuous improvement programs.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred manufacturing/industrial experience, particularly in electronic/mechanical equipment assembly or high‑speed equipment operation.
- No prior experience is required if current experience shows an ascending trend.
- Ability to read and write to follow work order instructions and prepare simple production reports.
- Basic math skills.
- Manual dexterity to operate machines properly.
- Corrected visual acuity sufficient to read instructions, operate machines, and visually inspect parts.
- Physical ability to stoop and bend frequently.
- Physical strength sufficient to lift and carry 40 pounds frequently.
- Acceptable scores on pre‑employment assessments required.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve required takt and cycle times.
The employee frequently walks, stands, sits, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, uses arms to reach, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, and talks or hears. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds, frequently lifts and/or moves up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
Work EnvironmentThe job is performed in a plant environment. Required safety gear includes a hat, safety glasses, and steel‑toe shoes while performing specific tasks or in specific manufacturing areas.
