Job SummaryThe major focus of research is identifying mechanisms of cardiometabolic diseases focusing on the interaction between endothelial cells and adipocytes. The primary roles will involve isolating, culturing, and characterizing endothelial cells and stem cells derived from discarded human blood vessels and adipose tissue or animal tissues. The position will also assist with all the experiments conducted with these cells including maintaining the cell line, treating the cells, conducting molecular studies and helping with interpretation of study results.
Responsibilities- Cell culture, mouse tissue collection, vascular studies.
- Molecular biology assays of cultured cells and tissue:
Western blot, qRT-PCR. - Data analysis and record keeping.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field with experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory research.
- OR Bachelorf's degree in related fields with a minimum of three years of research and/or clinical experience.
- Cell culture, Cell Lines, Westerns
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- SKILLS Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, strong work ethic and desire to learn.
- ABILITIES Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be highly motivated.
- Willingness and ability to work with research animals.
- Ability to use sound judgment and work independently.
This position is a Part-time 20 hours per week (.50 FTE) position.
Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday
Salary: $21.83-$26.92 per hour.
Pay Band: B8
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
