Job SummaryThe Research Associate will primarily conduct Drosophila health and longevity experiments and maintain basic day-to-day operations in the lab. The Research Associate will supervise undergraduate workers and volunteers in the lab and may perform molecular biology experiments including PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting, as well as data analysis.
Responsibilities- Drosophila husbandry, media production, and stock maintenance.
- Supervise undergraduate students on their Drosophila health projects.
- Longevity, stress assays, health assays.
- PCR, qPCR, Western blotting.
- Analysis of experimental data collected in R.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or related field with experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory work, particularly clinical trial research.
- Or
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or related field with a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.
- Master's degree in biology or related field and experience in molecular biology and statistical analyses is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Basic understanding of laboratory techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Highly motivated.
- Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required). - Salary Minimum: $45,400 annually.
- Pay Band: B8
- Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
- Recruitment Period:
