Job SummaryThis position offers hands‑on learning in the medical field, specifically orthopedic surgery. The research assistant will work with Dr. Stephen Parada and orthopedics residents, rotating between clinic, office, and operating room for observation and assistance with intra‑operative video and imaging. The role includes data collection for research grants and monthly or quarterly reporting.
Responsibilities- Research scientific literature, conduct experiments, analyze results, and prepare findings for presentations, publication, and grant applications.
- Coordinate research activities and procedures of staff, graduate, and summer students; participate in project planning and protocol development; develop and evaluate new techniques and procedures.
- Advise principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, students, and technicians in research techniques; assist trainees and technicians with data analysis.
- Ensure compliance with rules and regulations regarding biohazardous materials, chemicals, anesthetic drugs, and experimental animals; oversee use of materials and equipment.
- Order supplies and equipment, maintain and troubleshoot equipment, manage chemical and equipment inventories, and perform related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life sciences, health care, or materials science related to the research area, plus experience in a research or clinical setting; OR an Associate's degree and a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or another science field preferred; experience in clinical, operative, and academic medicine; creative, self‑driven, reliable, and motivated to learn.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesSkills: Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
Abilities: Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.
Shift / Salary / BenefitsShift: Days;
Monday‑Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required).
Pay Band: B5.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint).
