The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) is a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia to leverage the immune system against disease. The center assembles teams of biomedical researchers working on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer. The IMMCG is recruiting faculty and staff to lead these projects.
Job SummaryA full-time research position is available in the Poltorak Lab. The candidate will investigate inflammation in atherosclerosis using mice and human samples, perform molecular biology, bioinformatics, flow cytometry, cell sorting, and next‑generation sequencing (RNA‑Seq, BD Rhapsody, 10X Genomics). The role supports day‑to‑day laboratory operations and requires strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
Responsibilities- Maintain mouse colony, including breeding, weaning, and genotyping.
- Perform mouse microsurgery and acquire blood and tissue samples.
- Conduct RNA‑sequencing (10X, BD Rhapsody), flow cytometry, gel electrophoresis, and bone marrow transplantation.
- Maintain inventory and organization of lab equipment and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal investigator.
- Master’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field, plus experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory work.
- OR a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of research and/or clinical experience in a related field.
- Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office and related databases.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
- Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift: Days, Monday to Friday (outside normal business hours may be required).
Salary: $45,400–$55,000 annually (commensurate with qualifications).
Pay Band: B8.
