Maintenance Worker, General Labor, Construction Labor ​/ Trades

Job Summary

This position reports to a Supervisor, a Foreman, or a Crew Leader and involves performing the labor required to repair roads, install signs, maintain right-of-ways, and construct and maintain drainage systems throughout the County.

• Repair asphalt roads, including edging, water cuts, and potholes.
• Install road signs and replace or point street markers.
• Install and maintain drainage ditches, place riprap, and clear obstructions from drainage culverts and storm drains.
• Remove overgrowth obstructing road signs and clear underbrush from road shoulders, including application of chemicals to eliminate weeds.
• Repair and maintain driveways.
• Pour cement for curving, trapping, and patching cracks.
• Drive and perform general maintenance on trucks used for delivering materials.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of construction principles.
• Skill in basic carpentry, masonry, spraying chemical herbicides, and stenciling.
• Skill in using equipment such as a chainsaw, auger, and jackhammer.
• Skill in operating various equipment such as a truck and backhoe.

A combination of education and/or work experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
