Position: Victim Witness Advocate - Bartow County

The District Attorney’s Bartow County Office is currently accepting resumes/applications for a Victim Witness Advocate in the Cherokee Judicial Circuit. This position will work closely with victims and/or witnesses of a crime to guide them through the Victim/Witness Advocacy Program.

Responsibilities include;

assisting with compensation claims, victim impact statements and advising of available resources based on the Victim Bill of Rights. Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and case filings;
Serving as a liaison between victims, investigators, prosecutors and court personnel. Maintaining ongoing contact with victims via telephone, email or mail, to provide support and keep them abreast of the case status.

A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling or a related field and two years of experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention, or trauma and violence safety assessment and planning is preferred. All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check, and pre-employment drug screening;

employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Superior customer service skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize a caseload.
  • Knowledge of the Crime Victims Bill of Rights.
  • Skill in oral and written communication; and use of computers and job-related software programs.
