Job Overview
The Occupational Therapist II provide occupational therapy services including evaluation, treatment, follow up and documentation using general competencies for inpatients and/or outpatients referred to the OT department. Provides supervision for therapy aides/assistants and students with specific patients or tasks as appropriate. Provides continuous consultation and education to families. The Occupational Therapist I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP).
This unique position is embedded within a highly dynamic, fast moving inpatient cardiac team that cares for patients ages 0–21 with a wide spectrum of cardiac anomalies and medically fragile feeding needs. You’ll be part of a motivated, tightly coordinated group that thrives in a complex clinical environment, working side by side with PT, SLP, and the medical team to support some of the most vulnerable infants and children.
The role offers constant variety, rapid clinical decision making, and the opportunity to contribute to innovative research focused on cardiac conditions and infant feeding. Shift Details: 4x10 hour shifts
Duties & Responsibilities- Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools, and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
- Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location, and time frames.
- Independently evaluates children from birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural‑competence and family‑centered care into clinical services.
- Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
- Demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
- Provides consultation and education to families.
- Treat children with a variety of diagnoses, and in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural‑competence and family‑centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Clinical Practice Specialist and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.

- 1 - 3 years experience required with strong preference for candidates with pediatrics. 3-5 years experience fragile infant feeding and cardiac experience preferred.
