All graduate assistants are required to enroll in a major ensemble appropriate to their applied area every semester. The ensemble placement will be determined by audition in the primary applied area. The majority of the graduate teaching assistant's duties support instruction in various classes and laboratories.
Primary Responsibilities- Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory.
- Assist a faculty member with teaching‑related tasks.
- Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught.
- Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab.
- Perform in the ISU Faculty Brass Quintet.
- Perform in up to two major ensembles in addition to the Faculty Brass Quintet.
- Teach minors and non‑majors.
- Assist with Trumpet Ensemble and Master Class.
- Lead sectionals.
- Coach student ensembles.
- Classroom teaching and other duties as assigned.
