Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs commissioning activities for generator systems, including mechanical and electrical components.
- Conducts functional and performance testing to validate system operation under various load conditions.
- Reviews and interprets technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Collaborates with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Documents commissioning procedures, test results, and any deviations from specifications.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Provides technical support during integration with other power systems (UPS, switch gear, etc.).
- Assists in troubleshooting and corrective actions during commissioning and post-installation phases.
- Integrates communications into site BMS/Modbus.
- Participates in the required safety program and works in a safe manner.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the manager.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
- 3+ years in generator systems, power distribution, or data center commissioning preferred
- Familiarity with diesel and gas generator systems, load banks, and control systems
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and commissioning software
- Ability to work in data center environments and outdoors as needed
- Lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and climbing
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
- NFPA 70E, OSHA safety training, or manufacturer-specific generator certifications
- Must be able to obtain a CDL license if required
