RN Clinical Periop Nurse

Experience:

Less than 1 year of direct patient care
License: RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact

Certifications:

BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent

Description:

The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team.
They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe care.
The nurse practices in a clinical environment supported by leadership and governed through a shared governance model.
The framework for practice is guided by professional practice standards and evidence-based research.
All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed and knowledgeable.
They uphold the practice of nursing according to applicable laws and ethical standards.
As a member of the patient services team, they promote patient advocacy and service excellence.

Core Responsibilities:

They perform the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
Patient care is individualized and based on evidence-based practices.
The nurse provides relationship-based, patient-centered care that adapts to population-specific characteristics.
They consistently partner with patients and significant others for effective communication.
The delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care are coordinated and inclusive of interdisciplinary communication.
The nurse demonstrates teamwork and promotes a respectful clinical environment.
Participation in performance improvement initiatives is expected.
They complete ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education requirements.
The nurse serves as a preceptor or mentor for other staff, modeling professional nursing practice.

Evidence-Based Practice:
The RN promotes evidence-based practice and participates in nursing research.
They engage in activities to evaluate patient care products and uphold organizational policies and procedures.
Participation in data collection and addressing clinical questions with appropriate resources is expected.

Resources and Support:
The nurse proactively plans for patient care across the continuum.
Collaboration in the development of protocols and procedures is encouraged.
Efficient use of resources is important in achieving best practice outcomes.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
