Overview
In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and departments is responsible for providing routine dental care/treatments for patients aged 0-18 in a community healthcare center setting.
Essential DutiesEssential Duties (at least 5 that are non-negotiable duties and are absolutely pertinent to successfully completing the job without accommodations)
- Perform clinical dental services for patients ages 6 months to 18 years, which includes examinations, cleanings, risk assessments, treatment planning, oral cancer screenings, preventive treatments (including home care and diet recommendations), amalgam and composite restorations, pit and fissure sealants, stainless steel crowns, composite/permanent crowns, extractions, pulp therapy to include pulpotomy/pulpectomy/pulp caps, minor oral surgery, space maintenance, behavior management, anxiety control, and other required procedures.
- Accurately and completely report and document status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, and contacts with patient and/or other healthcare providers.
- Maintain patient follow up procedures.
- Respond to inquires by clients and staff on dental health and on provided treatments.
- Directly affect improvements in patient well-being through accurate and timely diagnosis and delivery of relevant, high quality dental care.
- Ensure all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards including The Joint Commission and Comm Unity Care Standard Operating Procedures and Comm Unity Care Policies and Procedures.
- Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers, including clinical managers, clinical support staff, providers and business office staff.
- Interact respectfully and collaboratively with patients and their families, striving to develop favorable relationships with families.
- Collaborate with all members of the care team in providing patient-centered care.
- Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent Comm Unity Care in a highly professional manner at all times.
- Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all company policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
- Complete all mandatory training and maintain appropriate credentials/licensure.
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Ability to implement, and evaluate operational and administrative processes.
- Experience/knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation process and requirements, as well as all federal, state and local regulations and standards associated with the delivery of care in a Federally Qualified Health Center.
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience working in a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience working in an integrated delivery environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in relevant dental practices, protocol, trends and best practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge and success in effecting overall clinical operations.
- Proficiency in the use of a computer, software packages, and office machines.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited dental school with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree
PREFERRED EDUCATIONPediatric Certificate from an accredited U.S. Dental University
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE1 year dental practice, post dental school
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSUREUnrestricted licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Texas
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the purpose of writing prescriptions.
Nitrous Certification
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSUREAnesthesia Level I/II Permit
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR)Current Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers and current Pediatric Advanced Life Support for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
