NGV Talent is recruiting on behalf of an early-stage autonomous mobility startup based in Austin, Texas. The company is building safe, reliable, and scalable self-driving systems and is looking for a senior/architect-level engineer to help build the core infrastructure behind their autonomy evaluation platform.
About the TeamYou will join the Core Frameworks team responsible for the “digital twin” and execution layer of the autonomy stack. The team builds the pipeline systems that run autonomous driving software in simulation and offline environments. Their focus is strict determinism and reproducibility—every simulation and logged drive must produce consistent, verifiable results.
About the RoleThis is a senior infrastructure role focused on building and owning the backbone of the autonomy pipeline system. You will work on high-performance C++ systems that control how autonomous driving components are executed, tested, and validated. The role requires strong ownership, deep systems thinking, and a focus on performance, correctness, and reliability.
What You Will Do- Design and evolve the core pipeline framework that orchestrates autonomy components from sensor input to control output
- Build high-performance C++ systems with strict focus on latency, determinism, and reliability
- Ensure reproducibility across simulations and logged data to support accurate offline evaluation and A/B testing
- Develop tooling and observability systems to help engineers debug and analyze system performance
- Design and improve CI/testing infrastructure for autonomy pipeline changes
- Mentor engineers and contribute to architecture decisions across the platform
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17/20) in production systems
- Experience building high-performance, low-latency, or safety-critical systems (robotics, trading systems, game engines, aerospace, etc.)
- Experience designing and shipping complex systems end-to-end
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs
- Python for tooling or data analysis
- Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or real-time systems
- Familiarity with ROS2, DDS, or similar middleware
