JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Lead is responsible for the daily operations of the manufacturing floor in the absence of the shift supervisor. The Manufacturing Lead aids in material flow on the equipment, monitors operation, makes operating adjustments (as required) and verifies product quality and equipment operating conditions to assure conformance to specifications. The Manufacturing Lead adheres to ISO documentation. The Manufacturing Lead is responsible for reinforcing and performing area housekeeping and following proper safety procedures plus recommending changes to enhance equipment performance and improve safety.
The Manufacturing Lead will need to support all shifts as needed including weekends and overtime. Is dedicated to assisting all peers running production equipment to ensure efficient changeovers and throughput. Assisting in the daily activities of the manufacturing environment. Ensures a timely changeover with the next shifts designated Lead and or Supervisor if necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Safe operation of all ORAFOL manufacturing equipment.
* May be required to operate and inspect Powered Industrial equipment.
* All requirements of Manufacturing Conversion Tech III.
* Assume all responsibilities of a Shift Supervisor in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.
* Conduct shift change communication meetings in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.
* Modify manufacturing schedule to accommodate product changes and new products.
* Contact the proper personnel to ensure that there are sufficient quantities of components in manufacturing.
* Communication and assessment of quality.
* Update communication boards with visuals and documentation.
* Utilize the Quality Management System protocol for handling Non-Conforming Material, attend Material Review Meeting (MRB).
* Suggest and implement improvements to processes and departmental metrics (quality, cost, delivery, safety).
* Aid in goal setting and performance appraisals.
* Utilize the Manufacturing Enterprise System to produce reports as needed.
* Support in documenting near miss and incidents that may occur on the shift, including follow up actions, as needed.
* Verify the production inventory to ensure that the proper quantity of materials is on-hand and in the correct location, with the correct identification.
* Identify, correct, and report issues in the Manufacturing Enterprise System.
* Identify, correct, and report issues Quality issues utilizing the Quality Management System.
* Identify any deviations and document any requiring run conditions.
* Participate in the review and disposition on Non Conforming Material (MRB).
* Bring non-conforming material from production floor to assigned area.
* Participate in Inventory review.
* Set the standard for and promote housekeeping.
* Review machines logs to be sure machines are being properly utilized.
* Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* During day to day production operations, Technicians generate hazardous wastes. The types of wastes generated during production may include ignitable solvents, solvent wipers and debris, used oil, non-hazardous resins, and non-hazardous solids.
* Technicians manage satellite storage of these wastes.
* Responsible for verifying that satellite containers are compatible with their contents and are sealed unless waste is physically being added or removed.
* Ensure that all satellite containers used to accumulate waste are approved by the U.S Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and that containers are labeled with the words Hazardous Waste and other words that further describe the waste.
* Because Technicians routinely handle hazardous waste and Orafol is a large quantity generator (LQG), Technicians are required to attend annual hazardous waste training required by 40 CFR 262.34 (a)(4).
* Technicians verify that satellite accumulation areas are located at or near the point of generation (The facility may only accumulate up to 55 gallons of hazardous waste or 1 quart of acute hazardous waste at each satellite accumulation area).
* When the quantity limit is reached or a container is full, Technicians are required to add the accumulation start date to the container label and, within three days, transfer the waste container to the hazardous waste storage area.
* Prior to transferring containers to the hazardous waste storage area, Technicians are responsible for remove the attached pour off funnels, if present, and seal the container with U.N. approved closures (i.e. bungs).
* Technicians use appropriate container handling procedures and equipment to minimize the potential for a release of hazardous waste during transfer.
* Technicians are also responsible for placing containers in the appropriate storage location within the hazardous waste storage area and for verifying that waste containers have adequate secondary containment.
