Overview

Flambeau, Inc is a plastics manufacturer established for over 75 years. Flambeau offers a wide range of products and tooling solutions to businesses, professionals, hobbyists and enthusiasts around the world. Flambeau is a Wisconsin-based company with locations in multiple states including Ohio and Indiana, with other locations in Mexico and the United Kingdom. This is a 100% onsite position located in Baraboo, WI.

General

Summary

The Project Engineer acts as a liaison between the customer and all internal departments to ensure that customer expectations are met with regard to cost, quality, delivery, and service. This position will guide and manage programs for design, development, APQP, and overall program success.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain information from the appropriate manufacturing, quality, internal engineering, customer engineering, purchasing, and sales associates to provide the optimum proposal to the customer.
  • Perform all cost estimating functions during the development cycle, establish all standards for each job, from material to process to production.
  • Place all new tooling and fixture builds and be responsible for all mechanical design functions and tooling program management. Schedule all samples and provide support at all stages of the process. Communicate and document pertinent setup and processing information to molding technicians.
  • Update routings and BOMs to reflect engineering change requests; oversee updating of engineering print files and revisions to engineering prints, as well as reviewing and updating standards for accuracy and reducing manufacturing variances.
  • Manage all programs assigned and provide status reports on all activities as directed.
  • Provide proposals for annual continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Responsible for disposition of product for material review board sign-off and establish corrective action as required.
  • Interact with manufacturing personnel to establish standard processes to ensure customer expectations are met and provide ongoing support for production requirements.
  • Establish all quality plans for each part (FMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions, Work Cell Layouts, and PPAPs) and work as a team leader with cross-functional teams to obtain completed documents.
  • Strive to obtain continuous education and maintain a high level of knowledge related to current and new tooling, machinery, materials, and processing.
  • Travel to customer and vendor locations or other Flambeau facilities as needed.
Qualifications

Education/Certification Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering is desired. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and business experience will be considered.

Experience Requirements
Experience in Engineering Project Management preferred. Experience in plastic processing and manufacturing preferred.

Skill Requirements
Working knowledge of injection/blow molding processes and materials. Effective communication, both oral and written. Understanding of mold and fixture design, build, and construction. Ability to read prints and support QE with layouts and GD&T understanding.

Physical Requirements
This role has minimal physical activity, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer, copy machine, laptop and cell phone. May be required to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Most work is completed in a corporate office environment.

Work Schedule & Travel
  • Approximately 40 hours per week
  • Overtime as needed
