Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Electrical Engineering
About You
- BTEC Instrument and Controls Technician supporting Projects, Maintenance, and Site Infrastructure for pilot units, labs, and other site facilities.
- Standard work schedules are 4×10 M–T, day shift with call outs and overtime during off hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Primary job location will be Baytown Technology & Engineering Complex.
Job Role s & Responsibilities
- Expected to perform work tasks aligned with Exxon Mobil core values and culture framework in accordance with company standards and best work practices.
- Expected to understand, perform, and promote Life Saving Actions and all other safety requirements.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, reliability, and quality performance.
- Perform hands‑on work duties in the field and provide oversight to contractor workforce for specific craft duties.
- Perform pre-task preparations for assigned work (procedures, permits, JLAs, tools, etc.).
- Inform First Line Supervisor (FLS) of work status changes, personnel issues, safety or quality incidents, efficiencies, etc.
- Follow clear-out and work turnover processes to ensure accurate feedback to customers.
- Perform administrative tasks timely and accurately; update documentation and maintenance history in SAP as applicable.
- Responsible for timely completion of assigned training modules.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and ongoing proficiency in all aspects of the work carried out.
- Collaborate with technical, planning, and execution teams effectively.
- Understand and utilize PSMS tools to identify opportunities for improvements.
Job Role s & Responsibilities
- Project coordination and construction support if applicable.
- Daily warehouse and logistics duties associated with material management and chemical inventories if applicable.
- Perform electrical & instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of process units, polymer applications, and lab scale equipment if applicable.
- 2‑year associate’s degree or certification in any process or industrial related field (e.g., instrumentation, electricity, mechanical, HVAC) or equivalent experience in petrochemical or research industries.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of maintenance activities, repairs, instrument calibrations, and engineering drawing revisions within electronic databases.
- Hands‑on craft skills and knowledge preferred.
- Experience with installation and maintenance of electrical control equipment, process instrumentation, process analytical systems, motor controls (VFD), automated control systems (PLC), and heat tracing systems, temperature, pressure, level, flow instrument, control valves and DCS system.
- Skilled in the use of measuring tools such as multi‑meter, voltage tester, field communicator, etc.
- Experienced in complex mechanical tubing systems, rotating & fixed equipment, and custom fabrication.
- Understanding of QA/QC inspections & preventive maintenance.
- Able to use appropriate hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot, and operate equipment.
- General computer skills and understanding necessary to perform administrative tasks. Additional software knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel, MS One Note, SAP, AutoCAD/Desk Vault is preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to read and understand P&’s, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and plot plans.
- Strong organization skills, motivated, and enjoys working in team atmosphere.
