Overview
Under the direction of the EHS Director Innovation, the Environmental Health & Safety Manager will develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive EHS management system for Nike’s fast-paced innovation labs (maker spaces) on the Beaverton campus and provide advisory support to other innovation spaces globally.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, sustain, and improve comprehensive EHS management system and programs in support of Nike EHS Policy and Global Standards.
- Provide strategic oversight and day-to-day EHS support to the innovation labs, driving continuous improvement in health and safety measures and instilling a world-class safety culture.
- Develop programs and standards to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, consensus standards, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on risk assessment for new equipment, materials, and product innovation, design and development projects.
- Participate in incident investigations, perform root-cause analysis for all injuries and near-misses, and train managers to conduct thorough investigations.
- Provide EHS leadership and expertise on industry best practices for new innovation projects.
- Develop and coordinate training programs for employees, contractors, and site visitors; maintain training documentation and records per Nike policy.
- Coordinate and conduct health and industrial hygiene monitoring and inspection activities.
This position reports to the Environmental Health & Safety Director – Innovation and works closely with key innovation business partners to develop and maintain EHS programs and a culture of safety.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial or Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field preferred.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or a relevant local equivalent preferred.
- 6+ years of practical EHS experience at a large global company with R&D and/or manufacturing operations and world-class safety programs.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with key business partners within a large matrixed organization.
- Experience conducting machine safety risk assessments based on applicable machine safety standards.
- Experience developing and maintaining chemical/material safety programs.
- Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state equivalents, and other applicable global and industry environmental, health and safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, audit, and sustain effective safety programs.
- Proficiency in root-cause investigations and emergency response programs.
- Ability to audit facilities and address audit findings.
- Ability to develop business cases to support EHS initiatives.
- Ability to develop effective standards and train personnel at varying education levels.
