Children's Services About the team Hertfordshire Services for Young People is the primary provider of youth work, career education, information advice guidance and work-related learning in Hertfordshire. Our vision for young people is clear. We want young people to succeed, and by working for us you’ll be key to enable this to happen. We work with vulnerable young people to address emerging needs, improve life chances, and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services.
This includes supporting those challenged in education, their community or home life, to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. The young people we work with are typically 11-17 and 18 to 25 if they are Care Leavers or have SEND. About the role / What does the role involve? Delivering one-to-one and small group sessions with clear aims and measurable outcomes.
Supporting young people who are missing from education, home educated, on reduced timetables, or persistently absent. Building strong, positive relationships with young people to support meaningful change. Working closely with parents, carers, schools and partner professionals. Representing the service confidently in multi-agency meetings. Signposting young people and families to appropriate services and resources. Working collaboratively with SfYP colleagues to ensure a holistic support offer.
About you Essential:
SfYP are looking for an enthusiastic Inclusion Worker to work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting young people who are missing from education, electively home educated, on a reduced timetable or who are persistently or severely absent from education. The aim of the role is to support young people to overcome barriers to their education through bespoke one to one work and targeted group work, with the aim to support young people to re-enter or improve their education attendance You will have excellent verbal, written and ICT skills and a flexible approach to your work.
You will have the ability to demonstrate experience of building relationships within teams, the ability to build. rapport with young people and evidence of working with them individually and in small groups. Be proactive and can advocate and negotiate. Have a strong understanding of the issues facing young people and be able to demonstrate how you have effectively challenged stereotyping or other discriminatory practice.
You will have the ability to work flexibly as Service needs require. You will be required to travel across the county so access to a vehicle is essential.
