Job Definition

The Classroom Teacher will motivate, assist, and guide students in their prescribed instruction, discipline, safety, and health while under school supervision. The Teacher will also lead each student toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, physical, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation by providing appropriate instruction. The Teacher reports to the school principal.

Essential Job Functions
  • Identifies individual student needs through continuous assessment.
  • Uses student needs to plan instruction and writes instructional plans.
  • Implements instructional plans with appropriate methods and materials.
  • Manages the classroom to create optimal learning conditions.
  • Applies learning theory to meet student needs.
  • Evaluates and reports student progress.
  • Assists in planning and conducting parent conferences.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Plans for and supervises educational assistants.
  • Supervises students within and outside the classroom.
  • Initiates and maintains communication with colleagues.
  • Assists in assessing building‑level needs and planning requirements.
  • Attends meetings and serves on committees as directed.
  • Fulfills all responsibilities assigned to the Classroom Teacher.
  • Fulfills other related duties as assigned or assumed.
Working Conditions

Work is primarily indoors in a classroom setting, with occasional outdoor supervision, school activities, or field trips. The position requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and frequent movement. The role may involve lifting, carrying, or moving instructional materials or equipment. The employee may be exposed to moderate noise levels and a range of student behaviors. Participation in meetings, school events, conferences, professional responsibilities, and activities outside the regular instructional day may be required.

The teacher must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
