Registered Dental Hygienist

Overview

Dental Hygienist position in Benton Harbor, MI with Inter Care Community Health Network. Inter Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center and may qualify employed Dental Hygienists for National Health Service Corps student loan repayment programs. 2nd-year hygiene students are welcome to apply.

Inter Care is a Migrant and Community Health Center dedicated to providing high quality, preventive, patient-centered oral health care to its target populations.

• Provide efficient and effective patient preventive care according to adopted clinical standards.
• Seat the patient and prepare for treatment, including measuring blood pressure and pulse and verifying patient identification.
• Provide preventive treatments, including caries risk assessment, periodontal assessment, prophylaxis, applying sealants and fluoride treatments, and taking radiographs under the supervision of the dentist.
• Provide understandable and complete instructions for procedures, using diverse learning techniques, and document patient understanding.
• Regularly attend site and assigned meetings; respond to messages in a timely manner.

• Possess thorough understanding of theory and practices of dentistry, from an accredited four-year Bachelor of Dental Hygiene program or a two-year Associate in Dental Hygiene program.
• Maintain an active license to practice dental hygiene in the State of Michigan.
• Primary accountability includes assisting dental providers with high-quality, preventive, patient-centered primary oral health care for Inter Care’s target populations.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Ideally seeking a candidate to staff Monday - Friday; clinic is able to support some flexibility.
