Job Overview:
We are seeking a Product Verification and Validation Engineer to lead the development of new camera and cellular IoT devices for consumer and private outdoor applications. You will collaborate with ODM/JDM partners throughout the product lifecycle, define requirements, review electrical designs, execute Verification and Validation (V&V) testing, and support manufacturing during New Product Introduction (NPI). As the subject‑matter expert, you will design tests for our products inside the lab and in the field from an engineering perspective.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross‑functional development teams to accomplish project deliverables.
- Perform electrical circuit review at all stages of product development (Proof of Concept, EVT, DVT, PVT, Mass Production).
- Verify and validate electrical designs meet functional, quality, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
- Issue ECRs and ECOs during EVT, DVT, PVT, and Mass Production stages based on review and testing.
- Manage and organize electrical BOMs with emphasis on high‑volume, low‑cost designs.
- Resolve and track technical issues in project management tools (JIRA).
- Review and qualify alternative electrical parts during engineering validation and development stages, and support sustaining engineering in qualifying parts after production release.
- Work cross‑functionally to ensure designs meet EMC compliance, USB‑C compliance, PTCRB compliance, battery compliance, and cellular carrier certification requirements.
- Operate as a self‑motivated professional who is proactive in finding solutions to existing and new challenges.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience designing tests from engineering artifacts with consumer or commercial products.
- Direct experience designing tests to examine the following:
- Microcontrollers, SOCs, memory devices, power systems, high‑speed transceivers, and LTE/Wi‑Fi/BT/GPS devices.
- Various serial interfaces such as I2C, I2S, SPI, UART, USB, MIPI, SDI, and SLVS‑EC signals.
- Firmware/hardware interaction.
- 'Golden' data sets.
- Performance of mechanical, electrical and firmware interactions.
- Proficient in circuit design for high‑quality and power‑efficient embedded systems.
- Familiar with EMC compliance standards and certification processes (CE EMC, FCC, PTCRB).
- Proven ability to independently analyze root cause, debug complex design issues, and solve problems with minimal guidance.
- Experience with an on‑board validation and fault detection system such as Memfault.
- Expertise in full test‑design lifecycle.
- Experience with IoT standards such as cellular LTE and Wi‑Fi.
- Experience with low‑power design, battery management, battery charging, and solar panel integration.
- Experience with camera module hardware design and/or raw imager integration.
- Experience evaluating, testing, and qualifying PIR sensors and lenses for occupancy detection.
- Experience with RF circuit design, layout, antenna integration, and RF testing.
- Experience analyzing switch‑mode power supply design, performance, and noise mitigation.
- Experience with embedded programming languages such as C and C++.
- Experience with power and signal integrity analysis.
- Experience performing circuit margin analysis on digital, analog, and power circuits.
- Experience with USB‑C Power Delivery.
- Mixed‑signal circuit design with knowledge of optimal grounding schemes and return paths.
- Hands‑on experience with rapid prototyping.
This position is located in Billings, MT and requires relocation.
