Job overview
Birmingham Community Healthcare Foundation Trust Community Dental Services have an exciting vacancy for a Patient Services Administrator, working at Birmingham Dental Hospital. The role provides administrative support to our patients, from booking appointments and issuing letters to answering patient queries, coordinating outpatient clinics and supporting clinical colleagues.
Main duties of the job- Serve as first point of contact for Birmingham based Dental clinics.
- Provide flexible support within the dental team to deliver high quality dental care for a wide spectrum of patients.
- Carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the dental service, managing own workload and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of services within Specialty Management Groups.
- Rotate with other team members across Specialty Management Groups and locations as required to cover shift gaps.
- Grade Band 3, Contract Permanent, 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Sunday 08:00 – 20:00, with core hours Wednesday – Friday 08:30 – 16:45). May cover evening reception.

Birmingham Dental Hospital, Town Birmingham. - Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum (pro rata, yearly).
- GCSE/CSE level C or equivalent in Mathematics and English or equivalent administrative experience.
- RSA 2 or equivalent experience in typing or word processing.
- Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration or equivalent administrative experience.
- Previous administrative experience.
- Previous experience working with the general public.
- Experience working with a wide range of professionals.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Excellent keyboard skills.
- Extensive use of computer programmes:
Outlook, Microsoft Office, Excel. - Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to use own initiative and prioritise workload methodically.
- Ability to suggest and implement new procedures.
- Ability to follow tasks through to completion.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of information systems: PAS, RiO.
- Ability to travel between clinics to cover when required.
- Able to work on own initiative and be self‑motivated.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is required.
