Open to both full time and part time applications |

Hours:

40 hours full time per week or 20+ part time per week | Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 pro rata (subject to experience and qualifications)

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lecturer in Lighting Design & Technology to join our academic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong professional profile in entertainment lighting to inspire and educate the next generation of live event professionals.

You will:

  • Teach and assess across undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses, delivering both theory and practice.
  • Support curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Provide academic and pastoral guidance to students.
  • Engage in research, scholarship, and professional practice to enhance teaching.
  • Develop and maintain strong industry links, fostering opportunities for students.
  • Contribute to course quality assurance and enhancement processes.

About You:

  • Professional experience in lighting for entertainment
  • Familiarity with vocational higher education
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Experience teaching at post-compulsory or undergraduate level

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
  • Teaching qualification (PGCHE or FHEA)
  • Expertise in areas such as Pre‑Visualisation, CAD, Networking & Show Control, LED wall systems, or moving light maintenance
  • A research interest in live events and related technologies
