Position: Career-Ready Criminal Justice & Law Enforcement Teacher

Job Summary

Instruct criminal justice and law enforcement courses for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, both in the classroom and hands‑on/practical settings.

Reports To

Principal of Bloomington Career Academy

Qualifications

Currently possess or have the ability to attain an Illinois CTE Teaching License
Experience in criminal justice and law enforcement instruction is preferred
Relevant industry experience is preferred

Performance Responsibilities

Demonstrate knowledge of basic criminal justice and law enforcement skills as it pertains to education.

Utilize community partnerships to create career‑relevant experiences for students.

Willingness to participate in necessary training courses.

Maintain ISBE license by completing required continuing professional development hours to renew the license.

Help students grow in responsibility and professionalism.

Assist students in developing a positive self‑concept.

Display fairness and equity when working with students.

Plan and implement learning activities and assignments of instruction.

Provide information to learners about their progress throughout the learning experience.

Communicate clear expectations about rules of conduct and grooming to students.

Maintain open and clear communication with stakeholders regarding students' progress and classroom objectives.

Communicate personal enthusiasm and professionalism.

Communicate effectively and efficiently with students.

Open to new ideas and suggestions.

Dependable and punctual.

Maintain communication and positive working relationships with colleagues, schools, the community, students, parents and all other relevant stakeholders.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Maintain accurate, complete, and punctual records as required by law, district policy and administration.

Adhere to District 87 policies and procedures as well as the policies and procedures of Bloomington Career Academy and the McLean‑DeWitt Regional Vocational System and participate in the development of policies and procedures when called upon.

Promote the Career Academy through recruitment at school and community events.
