AboutThe Role
The Person al Care Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals requiring assistance with daily living activities. This position involves providing compassionate, respectful, and personalized care to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well‑being. By attentively responding to resident needs and maintaining clear communication with healthcare professionals and family members, the caregiver helps foster a supportive and trusting environment.
Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the physical and emotional health of residents, promoting their independence and dignity in a home or care facility setting.
- Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Answer phones and coordinate communication between residents, family members, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Provide personalized assistance, companion care, and/or escort services to residents.
- Lend support to individuals in completing their daily living tasks and helps to promote healthy socialization and quality of life.
- Must have minimum of a high school education or demonstrate the ability to write adequately to complete required forms and reports and be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to do basic math.
- Must successfully complete the Personal Caregiver Test and practical training.
- Must have some experience and/or applicable training in home health or private duty care, hospital or long‑term care, working with the elderly, individuals with developmental difficulties or cognitive impairment.
- Must have no finding in the applicable state registries concerning abuse, neglect, or the misappropriation of property of a dependent population.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Previous experience as a personal care giver or in a similar healthcare support role.
- Experience working in a home care or assisted living environment.
