SummaryThe Tax Staff Accountant organizes and processes client tax data to ensure the accurate and timely completion of individual tax returns, as well as simple to moderately complex corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and trust tax filings. They actively participate in various phases of tax engagements, working on both business and personal tax returns while assisting with related planning for a diverse client base.
This role requires close collaboration with other departments and associates to support seamless client service and maintain the firm's high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Provides timely, accurate, and professional responses to client and firm associate inquiries, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Drafts and prepares client correspondence, including letters, emails, and other communications related to engagement planning and requests, maintaining a professional and concise tone.
- Prepares individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns and projections in compliance with firm policies and professional standards, following guidance from engagement leaders.
- Conducts thorough research and analysis of tax forms and regulatory instructions to ensure accurate application of relevant tax laws.
- Proactively communicates with engagement leaders regarding outstanding items, potential issues, and other key matters in a timely manner.
- Manages workload effectively by adhering to established budgets and deadlines, ensuring efficient completion of assigned tasks.
- Identifies potential challenges or opportunities within engagements and collaborates with engagement leaders to develop appropriate solutions.
- Develops proficiency in applying accounting principles, including analyzing trial balances, to support accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in public accounting.
- Qualified to sit for CPA exams.
- A minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education is required each year.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel and Quick Books.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Required to sit for long periods.
- Extensive computer, keyboard, and mouse use.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
