Professional Engineer – Civil Land Development
Location: Boca Raton, Florida or Port St. Lucie, Florida
Primarily onsite. Limited remote flexibility may be considered only for highly experienced candidates with extensive South Florida land development experience.
Employment Type: Full-time, W2
CompensationBase Salary: $75,000 to $120,000+ depending on experience
Targeting lower to mid-range for mid-level engineers
Absolute hard cap approximately $150,000 base
- Performance-based discretionary bonuses historically paid annually
- Overtime paid at time and a half over 40 hours
Compensation is determined by licensure status, technical production capability, and level of independent responsibility.
ScheduleMonday through Friday
Office hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Overtime available based on workload
TravelLocal municipal meetings and project site visits as required within South Florida.
About the OpportunityThis is a hands‑on civil engineering role within an established South Florida land development and municipal services firm founded in 1982. The firm maintains long‑standing relationships with major homebuilders and private developers and operates with a consistent project backlog and steady growth.
This position exists due to sustained project volume and continued expansion. The firm is seeking a licensed Florida Professional Engineer capable of independently executing land development design work and managing permitting processes.
Position OverviewThe Professional Engineer will execute and oversee civil engineering design projects focused exclusively on land development.
This is not a purely managerial role. The selected candidate must actively perform technical design, calculations, drafting, and permitting work using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The role requires ownership of projects from design through permitting and construction support.
Key Responsibilities Engineering Design and Calculations- Perform and review stormwater management calculations
- Design sanitary sewer collection and transmission systems
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations
- Utilize ICPR for stormwater modeling when applicable
- Prepare technical specifications and construction drawings
- Design land development infrastructure including roadways, water systems, sewer systems, and drainage systems
- Perform own drafting in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Review and approve shop drawings and material specifications
- Prepare and process permits through applicable agencies
- Interface directly with South Florida municipalities
- Deliver complete technical document packages
- Process certifications and closeouts of permits
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, CAD staff, and internal teams
- Attend and participate in project meetings
- Maintain organization and technical accuracy across multiple projects
- Provide construction inspection services
- Support field coordination and respond to technical questions during construction
- Active Florida Professional Engineer license
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- Minimum 5 years of civil engineering experience in land development
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Must perform own drafting
- Demonstrated experience in stormwater design and infrastructure systems
- Ability to work onsite in Boca Raton or Port St. Lucie
- Experience with ICPR stormwater modeling
- Familiarity with South Florida municipal permitting agencies
- Experience working with major residential developers
