POSITION SUMMARY: Drives in own automobile over established route to deliver meals to client’s place of residence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Basic math and computer skills
- Picks up prepared meals from designated site and deliver promptly and safely to participant's home according to route schedule
- Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines
- Perform basic wellness check on participants during delivery (e.g., visual well-being, unusual behavior, absence during delivery) and report any concerns per agency protocol
- Provide friendly and professional service
- Operate personal vehicle in compliance with all traffic laws and hospital policies during route delivery
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Returns meal carriers to designated location at end of route
- Maintains accurate records for statistical purposes
- Participates in required in-services and trainings
- Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the standards of the organization
MINIMUM
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function. - Work experience:
No prior experience or training required. - Education/Certifications/Licenses:
Valid Iowa Drivers License, maintains auto liability insurance. - Desired Work Traits:
Ability to do simple math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of two figured numbers. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction. - Communication
Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write short correspondence. Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS:
Able to operate required kitchen equipment such as microwave. Able to operate computer, fax, and copy machine. Able to operate telephone.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including driving. The employee is also exposed to varied home environments including pets and household pests. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Vision must be correctable to view computer screens and read printed information. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
