Bridge Inspection Team Leader, Senior Structural Engineer
WSP is initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader, Senior Structural Engineer to join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England (Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Glastonbury, CT; Providence, RI).
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow in people leadership within our team of experts.
Your Impact- Work with the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on a variety of inspection‑related projects.
- Lead Bridge, Tunnel & Ancillary Inspections.
- Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
- Assist in the preparation of Bridge & Tunnel Load Ratings.
- Assist with the development of plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to execute project work.
- Guide and train entry‑level engineers.
- Support engineering tasks, including field work, preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Contribute to cost proposal and scope of work documents.
- Maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assignment‑specific tasks.
- Remain current in structural engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making in alignment with WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- 7–10 years of experience in bridge, tunnel, or ancillary inspection or design or related infrastructure work.
- Engineer in Training certification (PE preferred).
- Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles and application to project work.
- Demonstrated interest in structures and transportation and strong desire to advance related skills.
- Physically able to perform continuous field work, including heights, climbing, carrying ladders, adverse weather, nighttime, and working around moving vehicles.
- Potential to work 50% in the field and 50% in the office.
- Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check and a valid driver’s license.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external audiences.
- Ability to work independently and provide leadership to junior team or project members.
- Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and complying with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules beyond the typical workweek as required by projects.
- Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required.
- Professional Engineer certification.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Active membership or participation in local professional practice organizations.

Expected salary: $103,500 – $175,230 (based on location, experience, and qualifications).
