  • Design, fabricate, and operate lab, pilot, and commercial scale equipment to produce the empirical data required to design and optimize the desorption cell. Develop heat‑exchange numerical models for Sponge’s novel heat exchangers to optimize the design of Sponge’s desorption cell.
  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing techniques for Sponge’s desorption cell and lead costing, production scale‑up and cost‑out activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject or work experience demonstrating capabilities of a degreed mechanical engineer.
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject or work experience demonstrating capabilities of a degreed mechanical engineer is desirable, but not required.
Skills & Attitude
  • Fluency in at least one mechanical design and engineering software package such as SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion
    360 or equivalent.
  • Capable of designing, building, and operating lab and pilot scale test equipment, analyzing data and developing models to inform full scale design.
  • Knowledge of metal CNC machining and additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Fluency, or the ability to rapidly develop fluency, in the thermodynamics of and design principles of heat exchangers.
  • Experience with sealing technologies is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate results.
