Job Title: Senior Scientist – In Vitro Pharmacology (Biologist)
Duration: 6 Months+
Pay Rate: $88/hr
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced In Vitro Pharmacologist to support discovery and development programs focused on obesity, diabetes, and cardiometabolic diseases.
This role will contribute to drug discovery efforts by developing and executing cell-based and biochemical assays, validating therapeutic targets, and characterizing novel therapeutics in a highly collaborative research environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mammalian cell culture and aseptic laboratory techniques
- Conduct transient transfections and generate stable cell lines
- Develop, optimize, and execute cell-based functional assays and biochemical assays
- Support screening of novel therapeutics using 96- and 384-well assay platforms
- Design and optimize enzymatic assays include ADP‑Glo and Kinase‑Glo assays
- Perform gene expression and protein analysis using qPCR, Western blot, FACS, ELISA, and HTRF-based assays
- Analyze experimental data and troubleshoot assay performance issues
- Support mechanism‑of‑action studies and pharmacological characterization of compounds
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with research and safety policies
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with scientists across research teams
- B.S. and/or M.S. in Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline
- 8–10 years of laboratory experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or related research environments
- Strong expertise in:
- Mammalian cell culture
- Cell‑based assay development
- Molecular and cellular biology techniques
- In vitro pharmacology and drug discovery
- Data analysis and assay troubleshooting
- Industry drug discovery experience
- Experience with GPCRs, enzymes, transporters, or receptor pharmacology
- Familiarity with therapeutic modalities such as small molecules, peptides, antibodies, or siRNA
- Experience with primary cells, iPSCs, co‑cultures, or 3D culture systems
- Knowledge of cardiometabolic disease biology
- Cell culture and transfection techniques
- Functional and biochemical assay development
- qPCR, Western blot, FACS, ELISA, HTRF
- Plate readers, automation systems, and liquid handling platforms
- Pharmacology concepts including potency, efficacy, binding affinity, and concentration‑response analysis
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
